This recipe is from Steve's mom, and a holiday favorite in our household. Easy to make in one pan, these sheet bars are deliciously chewy and sweet, and keep well. If you can make them last that long! Why not try something new this season?

Chewy Rich Coconut Bars
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white Karo syrup
1 tsp vanilla
3 Tbsp flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup chopped nuts
Mix together the first three ingredients, and put into an ungreased 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, beat together the next 7 ingredients. Fold in the coconut and nuts.
Spread the mixture over the baked bottom layer, and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
Bake correctly! They get dark, but are chewy and delicious!
