We are priveleged to carry this coffee from the famous La Minita estate in the canton of Tarrazú (like a small county in Ohio). La Minita is one of the most famous coffee-growing estates in Central America, if not the world. Spread over 800 acres, over a million coffee trees grow in a cultivated, shaded environment that provides the optimum conditions to consistently produce quality coffee. The farm interplants citrus trees among their coffee groves, and has also set aside 250 acres of virgin rainforest that will never be cultivated.
Harvest brings some families from far away to take advantage of La Minita’s higher pay. The estate has become a local legend and is home year round to some 90 families. Meticulously estate-grown, fully traceable, and sustainably produced with organic practices and quality control, these beans rate very high internationally, We wholeheartedly support this and all coffees produced from this coffee farm.
We've chosen a light-medium roast for this Costa Rican, to avoid the acidity that - while delightful, we think - is troublesome for so many people. We end up with harmonious, clean inviting cup, with sweet, clean fruit tones like dark cherry, and hints of caramelized sugar and chocolate. Don't rush through your cup, it's fruity and floral flavors are enhanced as it cools. A must-try for your cold brew bevvies this summer.
