Mexico Puebla
Mexico Puebla
We taste cocoa and raisin, with a pleasant lemon brightness. Very enjoyable contrast to Sumatra or Brazil, a nice refreshing cup.

Puebla is Mexico's third largest coffee-producing state. The Sierra Norte region. Coffee production here is traditionally a polyculture system, where coffee plants grow in rows under a tree canopy (see: Shade Grown). The favorable climate, volcanic soil and high altitudes provide a perfect terrain for growing this specialty coffee. Puebla's coffee farms are known for their dedication to sustainable and organic farming practices, producing high-quality beans that are a single origin delight.
Our selection is from a a small group of farmers in the municipality of Tlatlauquitepec who have formed a co-operative. Mari Carmen and Fernando Lima run one of those family-owned farms, Rancho Santa Fe, which was established in 1950. Marie Carmen's niece Olga now lives in the U.S., and imports their beans directly to Mentor.
Olga and her husband Grant run Lima Coffee Company in Mentor, and are committed to clean, ethical and high-quality coffee, focusing on sustainability, traceability, and paying above local market prices at origin. Every cup of this coffee reflects their dedication to authentic, responsibly sourced green coffee.
The majority of these coffee plants are a mature Typica variety. Harvested, they create a smooth well-balanced flavor profile with a medium body and a pleasant aroma. We recognize cocoa, some raisin, and citrus.
